Summer Glow FOTD

I was so excited at the prospect of being able to post a FOTD today because this is how I have looked for the past week that I've been overseas...

That's me without any makeup on and with my hair not done as this weather hates me.

Today it was finally slightly cool enough that I could put some foundation on without it running off my face so I jumped at the opportunity.

Summer makeup for me is either glowy and warm toned or bright and fun. I haven't seen many girls around here wearing much makeup so I thought the glowy look was the way to go.

I didn't bring much makeup with me so I had to improvise a bit and used my blush as part of my eye makeup. Disclaimer: I know that some blushes are not eye safe and I don't know if the blush I used is eye safe so use it at your own risk. You won't need to use the blush though because you can easily find an eyeshadow shade in a similar colour.

The look I wore was really simple and uses the three colours below:

from left to right: MAC Blonde's Gold Pigment, NARS Taj Mahal blush, NYX Dark Brown eyeshadow.

I have to say that Blonde's Gold Pigment is one of my favourite pigments by MAC. It's a gorgeous rose/ champagne gold shade and it's the perfect shadow for those day's when you want your lids to look even and shimmery without being overdone. The colour of the shade changes depending on what you use it over and I usually pair it with an intense gold base when I want to bring out the gold in the colour.

To get the look all I did was:

Prime my lids with Urban Decay Primer Potion
Applied a wash of MAC Blonde's Gold Pigment all over the lid
I used NYX Dark Brown eyeshadow in the crease and then lightly went over it with NARS Taj Mahal blush.
I applied NYX Studio Finish Liquid Liner in Extreme Black to the top lashline and coated my lashes with Loreal Voluminous Mascara.
For the rest of my face I used:

The foundation I used was a mix of many foundations. I didn't want to bring a whole bottle with me so I mixed a few different foundations into a travel pot and brought that with me. From memory, some of the foundations I put in there were Diorskin Nude, MAC Pro Longwear, Diorskin Forever, NARS Sheer Glow, Becca Luminous Skin and Estee Lauder Double Wear light.

I was basically trying to come up with a foundation mix that would stand up to the heat and humidity without being too thick on the skin and which still had some sun protection. This mixture actually sat on this skin really well and covered any discolouration and hyperpigmentation without me having to add concealer.

I used Laura Mercier Under Eye Perfector in Orange/Yellow topped with MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC42 under my eyes with Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder to set it

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in Medium Dark to set the foundation

NARS Taj Mahal blush on my cheeks

Milani HD Advanced Lip Color in Classy Nude topped with Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Beige on my lips.
