MAC Sea & Sky EOTD

A while ago Alicia from Funny Face Beauty had a makeup competition which I won a prize in except there was a bit of a mix up with the prize I got. Alicia felt guilty about it (even though she did nothing wrong) and sent me a few things to make up for it. There were quite a few things in the package I received it and it was all stuff I've been wanting to buy.

One of the things I received was a MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow in Sea & Sky and I am in love with it! It's an eyeshadow duo with one side which is marbled and swatches as a sky blue and the other side which is a solid rich bright blue.

As with all mineralize eyeshadows, this product can be used wet or dry. I've been using it wet as a lid colour but have been using it dry in the crease. I swatched both colours wet and dry to show you the difference:

The left two swatches are dry and the other two swatches are wet.

The marbled side is pretty to look at but the colour itself isn't very exciting. The solid colour is absolutely stunning though and it's not comparable to any of the blues I already own. The pictures also don't really do it justice and it really needs to be seen in person.

I swatched the eyeshadow against some of my other MAC blue eyeshadows:

left to right (All MAC): Marbled side of Sea & Sky, Tilt, solid side of Sea & Sky, Deep Truth, Atlantic Blue, Prussian, Contrast

I've been playing around with this eyeshadow a bit and my favourite way to apply it is to use the dark blue on the lid in a smokey eye.

To get this look I used:
Urban Decay Primer Potion all over the lid up to the brow bone
MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot all over the lid just up to the crease
The dark side of the Sea & Sky eyeshadow applied wet all over the lid just up to the crease
The light side of the Sea & Sky eyeshadow to blend out the edges of the dark blue
MAC Contrast eye shadow on outer lid and into the crease
MAC Typographic eye shadow (dark grey) to darken crease and outer v
MAC Naked Pigment on inner lid and around tear duct
MAC Solar White eye shadow around the tear duct
NYX Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Black on upper lashline
Rimmel Sexy Curves mascara on lashes

  1. i especially love the inner corner colors! gorgeous

  2. I love this! I will definitely have to try this once I get home. Glad to have Sea & Sky now. :)

  3. Thanks Vonnie! Solar White is my absolute HG inner corner colour.

Fruh: Thanks :) It was nice to go bright again after playing it safe with neutrals for most of this fall/winter.

Thanks JC! It's one of those eyeshadows I always wanted but i didn't appreciate how nice it was till I saw it in person. Hope you decide to post up an EOTD :)
