EOTD Challenge: Purple Haze

Sara-May's 'May 2011 FOTD challenge' is quickly drawing to a close with only two more looks to go. It's been so much fun taking part in this challenge and I highly recommend joining in when (and if) Sara-May decides to do another one.

Today's look was 'Purple Haze' and seeing as I had to go to work today, I decided to stay away from any psychadelic interpretations and instead used MAC Purple Haze eyeshadow as the main colour. The look ended up being your typical purple smokey eye and I feel like I've done this look for you before. I don't know why but any time I attempt to do a purple look, no matter what colours I use, it always ends up looking the same so I apologise.

The colours I used were mainly MAC as I've been neglecting my MAC palettes a bit.
From left to right: MAC Purple Haze, Sugarpill Poison Plum, MAC Nocturnelle, MAC Sketch, MAC Stars 'n' Rockets and MAC Naked Lunch.

To get the look:
I applied Urban Decay Primer Potion all over my lid and then patted MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot on top of this to give my shadows a good base to stick to.
I patted MAC Purple Haze eyeshadow over the inner half of my lid
I placed Sugarpill Poison Plum eyeshadow over the outer half of my lid and then blended the point where the two colours meet
I blended out the edge of the shadows with a clean crease brush before putting a mixture of MAC Nocturnelle and MAC Sketch eyeshadows on to the outer v and into the crease
I used MAC Soft Brown eyeshadow to blend out the edges of the crease colours
I used a mixture of MAC Stars 'n' Rockets and Naked Lunch to highlight the inner corner
I used NYX Studio liquid liner in Extreme Black all across the top lashline and coated my lashes with Rimmel Sexy Curves mascara

  1. looks really beautiful! i love the liner and lid color...heck, i like the crease/outer v color/blending too so whole thing rocks :)

  2. Gorgeous EOTD! I really want MAC Stars n Rockets (limited edition??) and Purple Haze

  3. Beautiful! This is such a soft and pretty look! :D

  4. gorgeous! I love it! You did such a great job at blending those colours together I can hardly see where they start and finish. Very pretty and totally wearable! xx

  6. Thanks so much Vonnie! :)

Thanks Jen! They both seem to be part of the permanent line. They're both lovely colours although Purple Haze is actually not as pigmented as I would like.

Thanks Ki! I didn't end up having enough time to change my makeup before going out later that night so I added a bit of black in the crease and it made a perfect smokey eye :D

msmadamemakeup: thanks so much! I've been trying to up my blending game and I think I've gotten a lot better than I was :)

Natalie: Thanks so much, that's really sweet and thanks for following, I really appreciate it :)
