EOTD Challenge: Pin Up

Today's look for Sara-May's 'May 2011 FOTD Challenge' is pin up. I absolutely love the pin up look because it's classic and flattering on everyone. I especially adore the defined crease eye look a la Marilyn Monroe and I've already done a post on this look. Check it out here. I wasn't planning on taking part in today's challenge since I had already done something similar but I love it so much that I decided to give it another go!

My previous post was more of a classic pin up eye but today's one has a bit of a twist as I used a pastel blue eyeshadow on the lid instead of the normal shimmery/matte beige colour. I first wore this look to a friend's hens night a few weeks back and I loved it! I paired it with NARS Heatwave on the night but I think this eye looks gorgeous with a nude/light pink lip.

To get this look I decided to use my Coastal Scents Originial 88 palette. I numbered the colours on the picture below as a reference (click to view bigger) and I'll explain how I used them in the look.

I used:
Urban Decay Primer Potion all over the lid up to the brow bone.
MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot all the lid up to the brow bone as a base for the shadows.
The first eyeshadow I put down was colour 1 from the CS Palette which is a light cool brown and I used this to lightly define the crease concentrating the colour on the outer half of the crease.
I then patted colour 5 from the CS palette which is a shimmery pastel blue all over the lid just up to crease.
I then picked up some of colour 2 from the CS pallete (which is a dark cool brown) on an angled brow/liner brush and drew in a defined crease. I then blended the top of this line out with a tapered blending brush.
I then picked up some of colour 3 from the CS palette (which is a matte black) on the same angled brush and darkened the crease a bit concentrating on the outer edge of the line and then blended the top of the line out.
I used colour 4 from the CS palette (a pastel peach) as a brow bone highlight and a mixture of colour 4 and colour 6 as highlight around my tear duct.
I used Rimmel Exaggerate liquid liner in black all along my top lashline and ended the line in a flick.
I used Rimmel Soft Kohl liner in White on my water line and Rimmel Sexy curves mascara on my top lashes.
I finished the look off by adding so half lashes on the outer part of my lashline.

I chose to pair today's look with a red lip and went with NYX Hot Red lipliner and NYX Snow White lipstick.

  1. I love the lip colour - at the risk of sounding sleazy, it loks juicy! :D

  2. :D I literally LOL'd @ 'juicy'. It's a lovely colour and once I can get used to the strong scent NYX uses in their lipsticks I'll definitely wear it out more!
