EOTD Challenge: Makeup from another Era

Ok I know I owe you guys lots of posts from this past week and I apologise. It's been a hectic week and amongst other things, I officially became a lawyer this week so I haven't been able to muster up the time/energy to post when I had to. I'm back though and hopefully this week won't be so bad!

I was looking back at some of the challenges from this past week for Sara-Mays 'May 2011 FOTD challenge' and I really wanted to do the 'Makeup from another era'. The only problem was finding an era and in the end I settled on 90's makeup since I am a 90's child through and through :D

To figure out how to go about getting 90's makeup I decided to consult the foremost makeup artist of the era and of course I mean Kevyn Aucoin. I have 2 of his books and after poring through the pages, I decided on a really contoured eye using matte shadows and black eyeshadow as eyeliner. I used the Coastal Scents 28 Neutral Palette to get the look.

For the lips I went for the typical 90's lip with a neutral/nude lip colour paired with a darker lipliner. Below I used NYX Toast lipliner and NYX London Soft Matte Lip Cream.

  1. You have such perfect product placement on your crease! Not sure if that sounds weird, but I know how hard it is to get such a nice smooth gradient and line, and you did an amazing job :)

  2. I'm not a fan of 90s lips in general, but I love the eyes! :)

  3. Lovely EOTD! :)

  4. This looks so very 90's and very beautiful! You have definitely done Mr Aucoin justice x

  5. Thanks Celina! That doesn't sounds weird at all and I totally appreciate it because I've been trying to learn how to get good crease placement :D

Ki: Lol yeah 90's lips are a bit weird but when else will I get to recreate them? :D

    Thanks Tanisa!

Thanks Sara-May! I wish he was still alive because he's definitely an amazing source of inspiration and he was crazy talented :)
