MAC 3D glitters in Silver, Gold & Copper

You might have noticed by now that I have thing for shiny things. I'm a bit like a magpie in that way which is why it's no surprise that the MAC 3D glitters caught my attention. I'm not sure how many colours they come in but so far I've seen gold, silver and copper versions and they're all holographic glitters which reflect the light in such a pretty way that's so mesmerising to stare at.

I could never justify buying full jars of these so I picked up sample sizes from different websites. I bought the 3D Gold and Copper from http://www.allcosmeticswholesale.com/ and the 3D silver from http://www.thebeautysampler.com/. They were all around $3-$5 for some where around 1/4 teaspoon worth of product. The 5gm jars they arrive in are no where near full so don't expect a full sample jar. I should tell you that these are NOT EYE SAFE (sorry had to emphasise that :)) so use them on your eyes at your own risk. I've only worn them out on my eyes once and I had a massive reaction but I think that was due to the eyeshadow I used but I'm not sure.

Here's the 3D Copper:

3D Silver:

and 3D Gold:

I received the 3D Gold and Copper first and I fell in love with them because the glitter pieces were no where near as chunky as I thought they were going to be. The 3D Silver arrived today and I can't believe how big the glitter pieces are in comparison with the other colours! They look like 2 completely different products! I searched online and apparently the Silver is just made chunkier and bigger than the Gold and Copper for some reason. I took some pictures to show you how different the sizes of the glitter are. All of my pictures are clickable so click to view them larger.

I think these glitters would look awesome applied on nails and I've seen some really cool designs using the Silver one especially. Photographs don't do the glitters justice because I think their effect is best seen in person so check them out if you get the chance!

Have any of you tried the glitters? What do you think of them and how do you like to use them?

  1. I have the 3D gold but really want to get my hands on the 3D silver. It looks amazingly gorgeous.

  2. Alicia: I love the gold and the silver has definitely grown on me! I was disappointed at first because of the chunkiness and I would still love it if MAC released a more finely milled version but it's not as unwearable as I first thought.
