The Wedding Guest: Sweet and Pretty

I was searching for inspiration for makeup to wear to the wedding I have this weekend when I realised that there must be lots of people who have this same problem. That's why I decided to start a series of posts titled 'The Wedding Guest' which are just some ideas I've had about what makeup to wear to a wedding when you're a guest and not actually part of the bridal party. Obviously these looks can be used for any event and hopefully they give you some inspiration.

This first look is just a simple, pretty look which doesn't use a lot of dark eye shadows or any liner except for a white liner on the water line. The emphasis is on keeping the eye bright and open.

What I used:
MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot all over the eye from lid to brow bone
NYX Yoghurt Jumbo eye pencil on the lid just up to the crease
Bobbi Brown Broned Pink eye shadow all over the lid just up to the crease
MAC Tempting eye shadow on outer third of lid
MAC Mulch eye shadow on the crease and outer v
MAC Soft Brown eye shadow to blend out the crease
MAC Brule eye shadow as an inner corner highlight
MAC Fascinating eye kohl pencil on the water line
Benefit Bad Gal Mascara on top lashes
Ardell Duralash Naturals lashes (Knot Free) in short and long applied all the whole top lashline

  1. ooh I really love this look. I'm wearing magenta (with blue shoes) for the ceremony and olive for the reception... what would you suggest?

  2. Yeah I really like this look as well!

Well I love gold with olive and I was planning on doing a gold look on you anyway. I was thinking of adding individual lashes like the ones I'm wearing in this look but you have such gorgeous long lashes (which I'm totally jealous of!) that you probably don't need them.

As for the ceremony how about a red lip? Lisa eldridge posted a video where she clashed her makeup to her outfit and wore a magenta lip with a red dress so why don't you do the opposite? Red lips and a simple eye with just a wash of colour on your lids (I really liked the Bobbi Brown Copper Sand on you) and some winged liner?
