I try to save my empty MAC packaging so I can take them Back to MAC but I usually forget because lipsticks aren't really my thing so I never had much of an incentive. That's changed now and I am a complete lipstick convert! I had a whole bunch of empty packaging from depotting my eyeshadows plus random products that I'd finished so I went down to my closest MAC store and picked up four free lippies. I got Girl about town, Freshbrew, Diva and Up the Amp shown below from left to right.
Apart from Freshbrew, these are all colours that I would never normally wear and they're colours that I'm going to have to work my way up to wearing because they're so intense.
Here are some lip swatches:
This is Diva. It's a deep maroon-red colour. I picked this one up because I wanted a more sophisticated colour I could wear whenever I feel the need to play grown up.
This is Girl about Town and I LOVE this colour. It's just one of those happy colours that feels so great on the lips. I was never a fan of the Amplified Creme finishes because I always wanted really sheer coverage for my lips but the opacity and the creaminess of this finish is amazing. I really want to wear this out soon but I just need to find the right combination of eye makeup and hairstyle to wear with it.
This is Up the amp and it's a kind of pastely purple based pink. This is a colour that is a lot cooler toned than what I would usually go for but I wanted to try something different so I decided to get it. I haven't decided if I like it or not yet but free products are the best and guilt free way of trying out new trends.
This is Freshbrew and I got this one because a lot of darker skinned women say that it's a must have nude colour. I think it's ok and I like it better than some of the other MAC nude colours I have just because it doesn't have as much pink in it but I just wish it was slightly warmer. I wore this out last night but I decided to top it with my Chantecaille lip gloss in Crystalline just to give it a bit of warmth.
Ialso really wanted a coral lipstick but I couldn't find one that really worked for me. I tried Dressmaker from the Pret-a-papier collection but it didn't really do anything for my lips. I might head back and check out Kraft from the same collection and maybe pick up some more natural shades as well. The MA told me to wait till the To the Beach collection as I really want a whole bunch of stuff from it but I've realised that the lipsticks in that collection have limited edition packaging so they won't be eligible for the back to MAC program. I'm sure I can find plenty of other colours I want from the permanent range so I'm not fussed.
