OPI Nailpolish: Barefoot in Barcelona

I was reading some blogs a while ago that referred to the 'Mannequin Hands' trend for nails and I wanted to try it but I just never got around to looking for a colour that would work with my skin colour. This trend is probably over now (as most are by the time I decide to jump on the band wagon)but it involved painting your nails a colour that is pretty much the same colour as your skin just like a mannequin's hands. This look is meant to give the illusion of more elongated fingers or something like that.

I went shopping yesterday and I found a colour that I thought would work. It was called 'Barefoot in Barcelona' and it's a very pink-based nude brown. Looking back I should have known that something so pink-toned wouldn't have the right effect and that I should have gone with a more yellow-based nude brown.

This colour looks really strange on me. The flash is making it look better than it is but the only illusion this look gave me was like I had stained the tips of my fingers pink or something. The colour is pretty much my skin colour but because of the pink tones in the polish it just looked really unflattering on me. If I had bought a similar colour that was a few shades darker then I may have been able to pull it off but as it is this colour just does nothing for me. I'm thinking it's one of those products I'll need to pass on to one of my lighter skinned friends because I think they'd be able to pull it off. It's a pity because I really wanted to like this colour. Oh well, this just means more nail polish shopping!
